For Guangzhou travel fair, 'It's More Fun in PHL' slogan in Chinese

At an international tourism event in China earlier this month, Philippine officials wooed prospective tourists with the Chinese version of the slogan "It's more fun in the Philippines."   The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the Department of Tourism (DOT) introduced the Chinese text at the Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF) 2012 from March 1 to 3. The GITF, held March 1 to 3 at the China Import and Export Complex in Guangzhou, is the largest and most important tourism event in Southern China.   "The DOT presented the Chinese text of the 'It's more fun in the Philippines' slogan to further entice Chinese tourists to visit the Philippines," the DFA said in a news release.   Assistant Tourism Department Secretary Benito Bengzon Jr. led the Philippine delegation that included representatives of the Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou, the Philippine Tourism Office (PTO) in Shanghai, private tour operators, hotels, and airline companies from the Philippines. When the DOT's new campaign slogan was launched in January this year,  Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez said the campaign is simple and truthful and answers the simple question, “Why should I go to the Philippines?” Jimenez said: "We need a line that is easily understood. Competitive. More fun in the Philippines is true. Kering keri natin ang campaign na 'to.”  Courtesy call Meanwhile, the delegation also paid a courtesy call on Deputy Director General Wang Zhihong of the Guangdong Provincial Tourism Bureau last February 17. Bengzon said Guangdong was a major source of tourists for the Philippines. Wang, in turn, expressed appreciation for the Philippines' participation in the GITF.   "He suggested that the Philippines may want to consider joining the China (Guangdong) International Tourism Exhibition (GITE) which will be held in September," the DFA said. - VVP, GMA News
