PHL explores work opportunities for Pinoys in Swiss aviation firm

Philippine officials in Switzerland discussed with a private aviation firm the possible hiring of more Filipino employees as part of the company's expansion plans.   Ambassador Leslie Baja met with Jet Aviation Senior Vice President Christof Spaeth in the company's offices in Basel, Switzerland, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a news release.   "Spaeth mentioned to Baja that Jet Aviation will start hiring a wide range of employees this year including pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, and avionics experts to beef up its capacity expansion," the DFA said.   Jet Aviation provides a wide range of services including engineering design and maintenance of executive aircraft and is the biggest company of its kind in the world.   The company has over 5,000 employees in its facilities in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the United States.   Presently, there are 28 Filipino executives and employees working in Jet Aviation's headquarters in Basel, the biggest Asian group in the company.   Most of them work as metal sheet workers while others are planning engineers and quality control inspectors   Baja offered the Embassy's services in helping Jet Aviation avail of quality manpower in the Philippines. - VVP, GMA News
