PHL execs hold agriculture seminar for Pinoy workers in Hong Kong
The Department of Agriculture (DA) held in Hong Kong over the weekend its first agriculture seminar for Filipinos outside the Philippines . Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala personally led the seminar on March 11 at the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong’s Conference Room. “This is the first time that the Department of Agriculture has tapped Filipinos outside the Philippines. With the positive feedback from the OFWs in attendance, Secretary Alcala pledged to set aside funds to hold agricultural seminars on a regular basis in Hong Kong,” the Consulate General said in a news release. The 60 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who attended the seminar were encouraged to become agricultural entrepreneurs in the Philippines. Some of the topics covered were organic chicken and rabbit raising, and the outsourcing of some farming processes. The group that organized the seminars was the Agricultural Livelihood Project, a Filipino association in Hong Kong. - VVP, GMA News
