The Hong Kong Tourism board said the Ching Ming Festival, which falls on the third moon, involves the Chinese tradition of ancestor worship. "Also known as the Grave-sweeping or Spring Remembrance, Ching Ming ('clear and bright') is when Chinese families show their respect by visiting the graves of their ancestors to clear away weeds, touch up gravestone inscriptions and make offerings of wine and fruit," it said (). During this time, public transport is widely used, particularly on routes along which cemeteries are located, and usually runs extra services to cope with the increased traffic to burial areas. "You should expect more time on public transport and on roads with access to cemeteries," it advised. Meanwhile, Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday are part of the celebration of Holy Week, the festival commemorating the passion, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Araw ng Kagitingan, on the other hand, is a commemoration of the surrender on April 9, 1942 of more than 76,000 starving and disease-ridden men (67,000 Filipinos, 1,000 Chinese Filipinos, and 11,796 Americans) during the Second World War. - VVP, GMA News
