'More Fun in PHL' campaign goes to Zurich
Philippine officials in Switzerland promoted the Philippine's latest tourism campaign — "It's More Fun in the Philippines" — in Zurich on March 26, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. The Philippines' tourism campaign was presented at the "Around the Globe 2012" annual roadshow organized by luxury hotel "Lobster Experience." "The event, which was attended by over 100 tour operators, travel journalists and professional sales people from the luxury hotel industry, presented more than 20 hotels and resorts from across the globe, and the tourism boards of the Philippines and Dubai," the DFA said in a news release. Lobster Experience is a hotel established in 2007 by Astrid Oberhummer, who has more than 20 years' experience in the luxury hotel industry, the DFA said. Philippine Ambassador to Switzerland Leslie Baja and Department of Tourism (DOT) Marketing Manager in Frankfurt Daks Fernandez attended the event. The week-long roadshow took the participating hotel groups and tourism boards to the six German-speaking cities of Munich, Hanover, Cologne and Hamburg in Germany, Zurich in Switzerland, and Vienna in Austria. Switzerland is the fourth biggest source of European tourists to the Philippines, with a number of resorts in the country partly owned by Swiss nationals. The Swiss hotel chain Mövenpick has established itself in the former Cebu Hilton in Mactan Island and is planning to expand its operations in the Philippines, the DFA noted. - VVP, GMA News
