Over 60 Pinoys avail of free computer lessons in Saudi Arabia
JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA — Some 62 Filipinos in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia recently availed of the free computer lessons provided by a migran workers group -- the Overseas Filipino Workers Cooperative Council (OFWCC).
OFWCC Vice Chairman Roberto S. Perez Jr. said the participants attended computer lessons on eight consecutive Fridays.
The seminar ran frmo April 6 to May 25 at the La Parilla Restaurant near Jeddah International Market. The courses included Microsoft Windows 7 Basic Computer Operation, MS Office 2007-Word 2007, Excel 2007, Powerpoint 2007, Access 2007, Adobe Photoshop Image Editing 1 and Adobe Photoshop CS3.
The main lecturers were Robert Perez, Ernesto Geslani, Bernardo Gojo, Jeanifer Decena, Marciano Par, Rashed Reyes, Paul Arenas, Joefrey Caya.
Organized in June 1996 under the auspices of the Philippine Consulate, the OFWCC, a federation of cooperatives operating in western Saudi Arabia, started by organizing entrepreneurship seminars and other skills enhancement program for OFWs in line with the Philippine government’s re-integration program.
“We thanked all the graduates, we hope that you can apply in your work the additional information you learned in the seminar and we encourage those who are not yet computer-literate to join our future trainings” Perez said. - Ronaldo Concha, VVP, GMA News
