Found to have tumor, the Philippine's hero dog Kabang who saved two young children in Zamboanga City, may undergo chemotherapy in the United States. According to a report of GMA Network's “News to Go”program on Wednesday, the initial examination of doctors in the US showed that Kabang had two health problems: (1) tumor in her genitals, and (2) heartworm. Kabang lost her snout to save two children from a speeding motorbike in Zamboanga in December 2011.  Before the doctors could operate on Kabang’s deformed snout and mouth, they first need to deal with her tumor and heartworm. It may take up to six months to treat Kabang’s tumor and heartworm disease, depending on her recovery. Kabang was flown to the US after Team Kabang collected more than $20,000 in donations for a jaw replacement surgery at the at the University of California-Davis. According to Kabang’s doctors, the tumor is only in its early stages, making it easier to prevent it from advancing to the next stage. However, this condition might require the hero dog to undergo chemotherapy, the "News To Go" report said. Aside from this, Kabang also has heartworm disease, a potentially fatal condition. The medical site “Heart Worm Society" said this is a disease where parasitic worms live in the lungs and the side of the heart. - VVP, GMA News
