Bangladeshi maid faces court for robbing, locking up Pinay, ward in Dubai
A Bangladeshi maid now faces a court in Dubai for allegedly stealing money from her Filipina co-worker after locking up her and their sponsor's child in the sponsor's house last September. The Filipina housemaid, 28, lodged a complaint against the Bangladeshi maid, 25, before the Court of First Instance, Khaleej Times reported on Tuesday. In her complaint, the Filipina said the Bangladeshi took at least Dh3,000 (P33,767) from her bag before running away from their sponsor's house in the neighborhood of Mirdif. During the prosecution investigation, the Bangladeshi maid admitted she locked the other maid up with the sponsor’s child in a room to run away from the villa. The incident prompted the Filipina to file a complaint against the Bangladeshi for false imprisonment and theft. Investigation showed the incident occurred last Sept. 17, when the Emirati sponsor, a 37-year-old physician, learned from his neighbors that the defendant ran away from his house. He also learned the Bangladeshi locked up the other maid with his baby boy. The sponsor rushed home and broke the room’s door open. The Filipina also found that Dh3,000 was missing from her bag. This prompted the sponsor to call the police. The Filipina also said the Bangladeshi knew where she put the money and the bag’s key because they stayed in the same room. — BM, GMA News
