An overheard video chat with a friend exposed a 13-year-old's experience of sexual assault from a 36-year-old Filipino civil engineer in Dubai.

Her father, a warehouse supervisor who is also a Filipino, learned of the alleged molestation after overhearing his daughter chat about sex over Facebook, reported Gulf News on Friday.

During the chat, the girl reportedly admitted to kissing a man, which led to her confession regarding the abuse.

"When I asked her about the content and when did that happen, she cried and did not speak. Then she ran in to the kitchen and wrote on a napkin ‘I am afraid of what happened in Bur Dubai’," the father said before the Court of First Instances on Thursday.

The girl said her abuser, a former housemate in an old residence, "constantly kissed her like grownups and asked her not to tell anyone."

A separate report on Khaleej Times said the incident happened between March and April of 2012, with the first incident happening in an elevator.

“She was afraid and ashamed of talking about it as he told her not to tell anybody about what he did,” said the father, who only learned of the incident on October 19, 2013.

While the housemate, a civil engineer, admitted to kissing and hugging the girl, he pleaded not guilty to molesting the teenager.

“I did not do such a thing,” Gulf News quoted N.J.'s plea before the judge.

The court will reconvene on April 3. — Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
