DFA still verifying death of Pinay college student in Malaysia
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is still verifying the death of the Filipino college student from a hit-and-run incident in Malaysia.
A report on GMA News TV's "News To Go" on Friday quoted DFA spokesperson Charles Jose as saying that the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur is coordinating with the Malaysian police to verify the victim's identity.
Once confirmed, the victim's kin will receive assistance in the burial of the remains and other matters.
The Filipina, whose name GMA News Online is withholding pending the verification by DFA, was hit at KM 4.6 Jalan Johor Baru-Kota Tinggi around Tuesday midnight, according to a report on Malaysia's The Star Online.
The report said the 27-year-old victim lived at the Tanjung Puteri Condominium in Stulang Laut.
"We believe that a car hit the Olympia College student and sped off without stopping," Johor Baru (South) police Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh told The Star Online. —Rie Takumi/KBK/JL, GMA News
