In recognition of the contribution of overseas Filipino workers there, Andorra has issued “Població Filipina” stamps in their honor.

The Philippine Embassy in Madrid said Andorra's Ministry of Culture issued 90,000 of the stamps in €92 cents denominations last July 7.

"The stamp features three children of Filipino origin who live in Andorra – Veronica, Dylan, and Von Mart – wearing barong tagalog, balintawak and salakot," it said.

"Andorra´s postal service is operated by Spain and France whose postal administrations issue their own postage stamps for use in Andorra only," the embassy added.

The embassy said there were about 800 Filipinos in Andorra in 2013.

Most of them work as engineers, sales agents, and hotel and restaurant workers while most of them remain Filipino citizens, as it takes at least 25 years´ residency for a foreigner to be eligible for Andorran citizenship. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
