Marital problems may have pushed a Filipina maid to take her own life in Ha'il, Saudi Arabia on May, some 60 km away from her employer's home, a relative said in a media report.

A relative of Jesselita Rosal Palca told Arab News on Saturday that the Filipina may have committed suicide after learning that her common-law husband "was already living with another woman in the Philippines".

The same person said Palca had no problems at work as she had a good employer who paid her a monthly salary of SR1,500, or close to P18,000.

Palca was employed by Naif Mohammed Al Shammary, who lived 60 km away from Ha'il. Her visa was stamped at the Saudi Embassy in Manila on August 8, 2013.

Community leader Ameera Domingo said Palca's body was still in one of the hospitals in Ha'il. She hopes the government will assist Palca's family by repatriating the OFWs remains to Davao City.

“The family is already grieving over her death. Repatriation of the remains would ease their pain,” Domingo told Arab News.
