Pinay heavy truck driver wins in Thailand competition
Her petite frame may fool people, but Jennifer Inting's superior truck-driving skills allow her to navigate the rockiest of tracks and made her a winner in a recent competition in Thailand, a report on Balitanghali said Monday.
The report said Inting was second runner-up in the Off Road Drive category of an international driving competition in Thailand held last July after navigating through a grueling off-road obstacle course.
"Eight po kaming lahat, mga lalaki po 'yung [kalaban] ko," Inting said.
Inting honed her skills as a heavy truck driver in quarries around Talavera, Surigao del Norte, where she works with fellow driver and co-competitor in the driving competition, Alma Bonita.
She said, in a statement by her company, that she earned a significant amount of points "for giving focus and importance to safety checks" and was hailed as a "professional driver who is an expert in safety."
"Mas maingat daw po yung mga babaeng magmaneho, mas malinis po yung sasakyan," Inting said on Balitanghali.
Inting, who completed three laps 15 seconds before the 11-minute time limit, said she can do better next year if given another chance. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
