Taiwan to extend visa-free access period for Pinoys

Taiwan will extend the trial period of visa-free privileges to Filipinos for another year, a local media report said, citing Minister without Portfolio Chang Ching-sen.

According to a report on Focus Taiwan, the extension is also extended to two other Southeast Asian nations, namely Thailand and Brunei.

Chang was quoted as saying that the decision to extend the trial period was reached during an inter-ministerial meeting earlier this month.

At present, Filipinos can stay in Taiwan without visa for up to 14 days.

The visa-free trial program for the Philippines started on November 1 last year. With the extension, it will now run through July 31, 2019.

Chang said that in order to better manage the program, visitors from the three countries will be granted visa-free stays of no more than 14 days.

Currently, Thai and Brunei citizens are allowed to stay in Taiwan for a maximum 30 days on visa free entry. —KBK, GMA News
