Number of Pinoys abroad with COVID-19 now at 153, says DFA
The number of overseas Filpinos who had been infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has increased to 153, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Monday.
Figures released by the DFA recorded one death, 66 currently undergoing treatment and 86 who have either recovered or discharged from the hospital.
There are 23 countries or regions with Filipino COVID-19 cases, it added.
The Philippines has over 10 million workers abroad, employed mostly as housemaids, construction laborers, engineers, IT workers, and medical personnel.
Also on Monday, the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong announced that three more Filipinos have been infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This bring to five the total number of infected Filipinos there.
It could not be immediately determined if the three new cases have been included in the DFA list.
In the Philippines, a total of 462 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed, and the death toll has risen to 33. The fatalities include a Chinese. — Michaela del Callar/RSJ, GMA News
