A pregnant overseas Filipino worker in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was on an interview with GMA News through video call when she suddenly gave birth at her employer’s home.

According to Tina Panganiban Perez’ Monday report on “24 Oras,” alias “Teresa” was speaking to GMA News to ask for help in going to the hospital.

Early morning on June 24, however, Teresa gave birth while on the video call.

GMA News had already called for an ambulance on Teresa’s behalf but the baby came out soon after.

“Umuwi ako October kasi namatay ‘yung nanay ko. No’ng bumalik ako dito December, hindi na ako niregla,” she said.

Her employer was angered after learning that she was pregnant so she was given an exit visa.

However, Teresa was not able to return to the Philippines due to travel restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Her recruitment agency vowed to take care of her while awaiting return to the Philippines.

“We will bring her to our accommodation and she will stay there while processing the repatriation. We will also help the worker kung ano ‘yung matutulong namin para ma-expedite ‘yung pag-uwi nila ng baby niya, and then of course we will coordinate with the Embassy,” a representative from the agency said. — Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
