Filipino man verbally harassed in another New York subway incident

Amid the rise in the number of hate crimes against Asians in the United States, a Filipino was verbally harassed on the New York City subway by a fellow passenger hurling racist remarks.

In a video recorded by Alex Vidal, he was approached by a man who went on a tirade mentioning race, particularly the Chinese.

Vidal said he was left alone with the man in the train as other passengers alighted due to the man shouting invectives.

"Papunta na sa direksyon ko at tsaka sabi ko, hindi na ibang ano 'yan, pinaparinggan niyan, ako na, kasi tumitingin na siya sakin tsaka minumura na niya ako," he said in a report on GMA's "24 Oras Weekend."

("He was heading my direction and I thought he wasn't talking to any of the other passengers, he was referring to me because he was looking at me and cursing at me")

Vidal said he did not react and instead took a video, but remained alert in case the man decided to do anything physical which did not happen.
