A 32-year-old Filipina, who had been a person under investigation (PUI) in Singapore, has started up a gotohan to help her sister financially, and also for charity work in her homeplace in Manila.

“We built ‘Goto Sisz Manila’ last July 2020. My sister had sent me a touching message, sharing how she’s getting old with nothing significant happening to her life,” said Joie Wee, a sales manager at the Wisma Atria, in an interview via Messenger on May 19.

“So I asked her what else she wanted to do aside from being a full-time housewife and after brainstorming, we came up the idea of selling comfort foods such as goto.”

Wee and her sister grew up with their parents helping their neighbors in San Andres Bukid, Manila.

She wanted to emulate the family's charity work, especially after getting through the ordeal of being a PUI in Singapore

“Every special occasion, we do charity work using my share from the goto sales. We also would always help someone from our neighborhood monthly.”

“It’s heartwarming that when someone would mention the name of our eatery, people in our place would associate it with charity work.”

“Nearby establishments who have been inspired by our works of charity would even order in bulk from gotohan for their own operations," she said. —LBG, GMA News
