Thirty-one more Filipinos were repatriated from Afghanistan, which is now governed by the Taliban, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.

According to the DFA, the 31 Filipinos flew home via a repatriation flight from Doha.

As of August 31, a total of 188 Filipinos were evacuated from Afghanistan, while 23 are still stuck in the war-torn country.

Of the 23, seven have requested repatriation from either their companies or the government.

The department placed an Alert Level 4 or mandatory repatriation over Afghanistan, which has seen a bombing, rocket attacks, and drone strikes the past few days.

It advised Filipinos in Afghanistan who are seeking repatriation to contact the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan through +923335244762 (WhatsApp or Viber) or isbpeatn@gmail.com, as well as the official social media pages.

"The department continues to closely monitor the situation and the status of remaining Filipinos in Afghanistan," the DFA said. — DVM, GMA News
