14 more Pinoys evacuate from Gaza
Fourteen more Filipinos have evacuated from Gaza, leaving only one—a nun who has chosen to stay behind—remaining in the besieged enclave, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported over the weekend.
Citing information from DFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega, the evacuees will be brought to Cairo in Egypt and will be assisted by the Philippine Embassy to be repatriated, as reported on a GMA Integrated News Bulletin on Sunday evening.
The latest batch of evacuees brings the total of s evacuated from Gaza to 136 out of 137.
The United Nations Security Council is expected to vote on the push for the body to demand an immediate humanitarian ceasefire as Israel prepares for an assault of Gaza's southernmost city Rafah, home now to more than a million mostly displaced Palestinians—a move that the international community, including Israel's backer the United States, has warned would create enormous human suffering. — Jon Viktor D.
