DNA of 1 of 2 Pinoys under probe in Japan matches with murder weapon

The DNA of one of the two Filipinos arrested in Japan for allegedly abandoning the bodies of a dead couple in Tokyo has matched with the DNA found in a murder weapon, State of the Nation reported on Tuesday.

Citing information from Tokyo Police, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reportedly said the DNA in the murder weapon matched with the Filipino woman.

Investigators are expected to release the final charges against the Filipinos on March 23 or 24.

The DFA said the Philippine government is ready to provide legal assistance to the two, who were rearrested on Saturday.

In a CCTV footage, the two Filipinos were seen coming out of the house where the couple, Norihiro and Kimi Takahashi, were found dead on January 16, 2024.

The DFA previously said the two are both being investigated for leaving the body of a Japanese couple and are not considered suspects. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
