DMW: South Korea to hire 100 Pinay caregivers

The Department of Migrant Workers announced that they would hire 100 Filipino caregivers to be sent to South Korea under the Pilot Foreign Caregiver Program.

According to a "24 Oras Weekend" report by EJ Gomez, whoever passed the evaluation would be tasked with taking care of babies and children, supporting pregnant women, and performing household chores.

"Ito po kasi ang programa ng Korean government para ma-assistihan nila yung kanilang mga double income families na walang masyadong support doon sa care na dapat ay mayroon sa bata o kaya ay sa nagbubuntis na nanay," said DMW Assistant Secret Levison Alcantara.

(The Korean government has this program to assist its double-income families, which do not have much support in the care that should be available to the child or the pregnant mother.)

The recruitment process is government-to-government, and online registration will be open from May 9 to 10. Applicants must be 24 to 38 years old and must know the basic Korean language.

"And based on the criteria set, doon po mamimili yung partner natin na HRD Korea," he added.

(Based on the criteria set, our partner HRD Korea will choose from there.)

The overall qualifications and requirements can be found on the DMW website.

This includes a valid National Certificate Level 2 caregiving certificate from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Meanwhile, for tourists in South Korea, the Korean Visa Application Center in Manila announced that since May 1, they have been accepting applications for tourist visas via mail or post.

Filipino applicants nationwide can submit their tourist visa application forms (C-3-9) and other requirements through KVAC's partner courier service, WExpress.

A fee of P1,900 would be collected for mailing service and KVAC's service fee, while the processing of visa applications would take 14 days. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
