PH Embassy warns Pinoys vs crime surge in Lebanon
The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon has issued an advisory warning Filipinos there to take necessary precautions against rising criminality as the nation seeks to rebuild from the conflict with Israel.
In its advisory, the embassy said concerns have been raised related to public safety due to an increase in incidents of crime.
It read, "The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon informs all Filipino nationals residing in or intending to travel to Lebanon that local authorities have reported a surge in criminal activities across the country."
Amid these incidents and concerns, the embassy said, the Lebanese government has intensified patrols, increased security personnel, and heightened surveillance operations to ensure public safety.
The embassy provided five safety recommendations for Filipinos in Lebanon:
- Remain vigilant of surroundings and avoid areas with criminal incidents
- Follow local laws and regulations, including movement restrictions by authorities
- Exercise caution in public spaces and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly at night
- Secure personal belongings
- Report suspicious activities to local authorities
