Comelec: All 77 posts abroad now open for Eleksyon 2025 online voting

Registered overseas Filipino voters can now cast their ballots online for the 2025 midterm elections as all the 77 Online Voting and Counting System (OVCS) posts abroad have been “successfully” opened, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Monday.
Comelec chairperson George Garcia told the media that the Honolulu Philippine Consul General was the last one to open its OVCS post at 2 a.m. Philippine Standard Time or 8 a.m. in Honolulu.
Garcia said that the 16 posts that would be using automated counting machines (ACMs) “have also successfully conducted open voting procedures.”
“With that, all 93 Posts have opened voting for their respective jurisdictions for the 2025 National Elections overseas,” the poll chairman said.
On Sunday, the Comelec kicked off the month-long voting period for the 2025 midterm elections for registered Filipino overseas voters, with areas in New Zealand under the jurisdiction of the Wellington Philippine Embassy being the first to open.
The official overseas voting period began at 8 a.m. (local time) on Sunday, April 13. This will run until 7 p.m. on May 12, coinciding with the end of voting period in the Philippines.
Of the 90 Philippine diplomatic posts, 77 are participating in the first-ever online OVCS and 16 are using ACMs.
Garcia said a total of 54,575 overseas voters were enrolled as of 5 a.m. on Monday. There are currently 1.231 million Filipino voters abroad, according to Comelec. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
