Filipino cardinals attend Mass in Rome ahead of conclave
Filipino Cardinals Jose Advincula, Pablo Virgilio David, and Luis Antonio Tagle on Sunday attended mass in the Pontifico Collegio Filippino in Rome, a few days ahead of the conclave that is set to determine the next leader of the Catholic church after the passing of Pope Francis.
According to a report by GMA Integrated News stringer Pia Gonzalez-Abucay, the three cardinals were part of the mass for the celebration for Filipino priests and seminarians residing in the Pontifico Collegio Filippino, usually done during the first Sunday of May in remembrance of the establishment of the College and the feast of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.
The mass was presided by Fr. Andrew Recepcion. It is usually followed by fellowship of Filipinos in Rome, which includes a showcase of culture and faith, and a feast of Filipino food.
The mass comes days ahead of the upcoming conclave which is set to start on May 7, the first to include 133 cardinal electors, following the death of Pope Francis at the age of 88 after suffering a stroke and cardiac arrest in April. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA Integrated News
