NEW YORK — On the sixth straight day of protests against US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, more cities across America have joined the growing movement condemning President Donald Trump’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants.

In New York City, the second consecutive day of demonstrations outside the US Federal Building in Lower Manhattan once again ended with multiple arrests.

Protesters attempted to block the roadway leading to the US immigration office, while others gathered at a nearby courthouse that was quickly sealed off by NYPD officers.

Nearly a hundred protesters have been arrested since the demonstrations erupted, all calling for an end to the Trump administration’s aggressive ICE raids.

The protest movement  has now spread to major cities including San Francisco, Washington D.C., Seattle, Chicago, and parts of Texas. Trump has sent in the National Guard and the Marines to Los Angeles, where the protests started, and a curfew has been imposed in some areas.

Activists are gearing up for a massive protest in New York this Saturday. Law enforcement sources say the NYPD is already on high alert as organizers expect thousands to flood the streets in defiance of Trump’s immigration policy. — BM, GMA Integrated News
