11 Magic Seas crew members arrive in PH

The remaining 11 Filipino crew members of the ill-fated MV Magic Seas, which was recently attacked by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, arrived in Manila on Saturday night.

According to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the 11 seafarers were welcomed by government representatives at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

On Friday night, six crew members returned to the Philippines. The ship's chief officer, 2nd officer, and 3rd officer arrived at NAIA Terminal 1, while the rest landed at Clark International Airport.

‘’Comprehensive reintegration support from the whole-of-government team, as directed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., awaits them to ensure their smooth transition and return to their families and communities,’’ the DMW said.

In a separate statement on Sunday, DMW said aside from financial assistance, the seafarers will also receive reintegration services and medical checkups, which include physical and mental health assessments and psychosocial counseling.

“Magaling kayo at magigiting. May AKSYON FUND tayo para magbigay ng tulong at suporta sa inyo,” DMW said.
