Filipina caregiver in Israel dies of injuries from Iran missile strike in June

A Filipina caregiver in Rehovot, Israel has died from injuries she sustained when an Iranian missile strike hit her apartment block last month, the Philippine Embassy in Israel said on Sunday.

According to the embassy in a Facebook post, Leah Mosquera, 49 and a native of Negros Occidental, underwent several surgeries at Shamir Medical Center, where she "fought for her life" in the intensive care unit for several weeks.

Her passing was confirmed by her sister Joy, who also works in Israel.

"The Embassy is now working on the repatriation arrangements and the provision of all necessary assistance for Ms. Mosquera," the embassy said.

"Lovingly called Ate Leah by her friends, she would have celebrated her 50th birthday this 29 July," it added.

Longtime enemies Israel and Iran have been exchanging deadly missile strikes since Israel launched airstrikes against the Islamic republic on June 13. — BM, GMA Integrated News
