Hong Kong Tai Po Fires: 1 Filipino Injured, Another Missing Says Consulate

The Consulate General of the Philippines confirmed that there was 1 Filipino injured and 1 Filipino missing in the deadly Tai Po fires in Hong Kong.

According to a statement on Friday, the consulate shared that there had already been 58 Filipinos confirmed safe, while the status and location of 91 other Filipinos are still being verified.

“Some of these workers may have changed employers, moved to a different area or even returned to the Philippines prior to the fire disaster,” read the statement.

The consulate said that they are still conducting on-the-ground operations to locate and assist affected Filipinos.

Earlier, the consulate shared that they will hand off financial aid to the affected Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

"Ang ating Migrant Workers Office at OWWA ay aktibo sa pagpaparating ng tulong sa ating mga kababayan," Romulo Victor Israel, Junior Philippine Consul-General to Hong Kong, told Super Radyo dzBB.
