Body of third Filipino killed in Houthi attack on Eternity C to arrive Saturday

The remains of another Filipino seafarer killed in the attack of Houthi rebels on the ill-fated MV Eternity C in the Red Sea are expected to arrive in the Philippines on Saturday evening.

According to a report by Carlo Mateo on Super Radyo dzBB, DMW Foreign Employment and Welfare Services Undersecretary Felicitas Bay confirmed the development following the completion of documentary and clearance requirements for the transport of the deceased Filipino's remains.

The victim was among three Filipinos who were reportedly killed in July 7 attack of Houthi rebels on the MV Eternity C, a Greek-operated and Liberia-flagged cargo ship.

Houthis released Monday the Eternity C crew members, including nine Filipino seafarers who were held hostage for more than five months.

The DMW was quoted as saying that the body was supposed to be transported along with the nine Filipinos who returned to the Philippines on Thursday evening.

The Super Radyo dzBB report said the remains of two other Filipino fatalities were transported earlier.

Meanwhile, the Migrant Workers Department is currently coordinating with the seafarers' families, who have been provided financial assistance following the incident, the report added. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
