The remains of overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Mary Jill Muya have arrived in the Philippines from Abu Dhabi.

In a statement, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said Muya’s remains were repatriated via PAL Cargo on Monday and were immediately transported to her home in Iloilo.

“Tinitiyak ng OWWA at Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) na patuloy ang koordinasyon at pagbibigay ng kaukulang tulong sa pamilya ni Mary Jill sa gitna ng kanilang pagdadalamhati,” the agency said.

Muya was found lifeless inside her room in Abu Dhabi on December 31, 2025.

Her family in Iloilo City earlier cried foul over the circumstances surrounding her death, saying Muya had not informed them of any work-related problems and had maintained regular communication with them throughout her nearly two decades as an OFW.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac flew to the United Arab Emirates earlier this month to look into the case, which remains under investigation pending the results of a forensic report.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
