DFA: No Filipinos affected in back-to-back train crashes in Spain
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said that no Filipinos were affected in the recent train crashes in Spain.
According to a statement on Thursday, DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Madrid confirmed that no Filipinos were identified as injured or killed in the collision at Adamuz, Cordoba.
The crash, dubbed Spain’s worst railway disaster since 2013, left at least 43 people dead.
The Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona had also confirmed that no Filipinos were affected by the train crash in Barcelona.
The second crash followed days after the first crash in Cordoba, killing at least one and injuring at least 37.
The DFA said that they are currently in coordination with Spanish authorities regarding the incidents, which are still being probed by local authorities.
“The Embassy and the Consulate General stand ready to assist any Filipino nationals who may have been affected by these incidents,” the statement read. —GMA Integrated News
