No Pinoys reported among victims of Indonesia landslide —PH Embassy
No Filipino has been reported to be among the victims of a landslide that struck West Java, Indonesia, the Philippine Embassy in Indonesia said Saturday night.
"As of this time, no Filipino has been reported to be affected by the incident," the embassy said in a statement posted on Facebook.
The embassy said it is closely coordinating with the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency as well as the Filipino community in Bandung, West Java.
Eight people died due to the landslide that affected 113 families, the embassy said.
A total of 82 persons remained missing while 23 have been reported safe, it added.
Heavy rains triggered the landslide in a village in West Bandung region.
The embassy said heavy rains started pouring at 3:30 a.m. Manila time over the Cisarua district, a mountain area that is far from the city center.
"The area has been placed in emergency alert status, with the local government advising residents to be vigilant and evacuate immediately if conditions are deemed unsafe," it added.
"The Embassy continues to monitor the situation of Filipinos in the area and hopes that the search and rescue operations of Indonesian authorities will recover more survivors," it said.
Filipinos may contact the embassy via its Whatsapp hotline +62 811 887 344 for any information or assistance needed, it added. —KG, GMA Integrated News
