GCash waives transaction fees for users in Middle East
GCash, operated by G-Xchange Inc., is waiving transaction fees for transactions of users in the Middle East amid the ongoing armed conflict between the United States and Iran in the region.
In an advisory, GCash said it will not charge transaction fees for bank transfers, bills payments, and buy load purchases for users in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman.
“To our kababayans in the Middle East, your safety and connection to your loved ones matter. During these uncertain and difficult times, we stand with you,” the advisory read.
GCash will credit cashback for transactions made from March 4 to 10 on March 20, 2026, while transactions from March 11 to 14 will receive cashback on March 27.
“Through this initiative, we hope to support overseas Filipinos in staying connected with their families back home, and accessing assistance without additional financial strain,” the company said.
Tensions in the Middle East heightened over the weekend, as US-Israeli airstrikes killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which American President Donald Trump celebrated. The death was later confirmed by Iranian state media.
Trump earlier on Monday (Sunday Washington time) that combat operations in Iran would continue until all objectives are achieved, as he confirmed that three US service members were killed and there would likely be more casualties. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
