Eighty one stranded overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have returned to the country following prolonged conflict in the Middle East, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said Saturday.

In a report, the DMW said the OFWs arrived in the morning via Emirates Airlines flight EK 336 at NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

“Kagaya ng mga naunang dumating sila ay may mga booking tickets na at nakatakdang umuwi ng Pilipinas para magbakasyon samantalang ang iba ay may connecting flights sa Dubai to Manila kung kayat na stranded sila bunsod ng kaguluhan sa Middle East,” the DMW said.

(Like those who arrived previously, they already have booked tickets and are scheduled to return to the Philippines for vacation, while others have connecting flights from Dubai to Manila, which is why they are stranded due to the unrest in the Middle East.)

The OFWs were provided assistance by the DMW, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Manila International Airport Medical Team, Bureau of Quarantine, and the New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC).

These include food and transportation going to their home provinces and psychosocial and medical assistance. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
