CFO eyes specialized seminar for Filipinos migrating to Germany
The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is mulling a specialized Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) for migrants bound for Germany.
In a statement, CFO said they are in talks with the Goethe-Institut (GI) for pre-migration and cultural integration programs to ensure that Filipinos who would move to Germany are well-prepared.
“Successful migration is the foundation of effective diaspora engagement… When our emigrants are well-integrated, they are better positioned to maintain strong economic, cultural, and political ties with the motherland,” said CFO Secretary Dante Ang II.
CFO’s move to strengthen the pre-departure program for Filipinos bound for Germany aims to ensure that they and their national identity remain protected despite the major move.
According to latest migration data, more than 60,000 Filipinos are currently residing in Germany, making the country a rising destination for the Filipino diaspora.
Filipino demographics in the country have grown past nursing and healthcare professionals and now include a growing number of spouses of foreign nationals and highly skilled workers. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
