DMW: 343 OFWs from Middle East to arrive on Monday
More than 300 repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the Middle East are expected to arrive on Monday, March 23 via a chartered flight, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.
In a statement, the agency said the 343 repatriates are from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar.
They will arrive in Manila via the fourth chartered flight to be arranged by the government and are personally accompanied by Patricia Yvonne Caunan, administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
So far, the government has brought home 1,420 OFWs and their dependents, as well as stranded Filipinos affected by the Middle East conflict.
These are through commercial flights and three previous chartered flights arranged by the government.
“Tuloy-tuloy lang po ang pagsasagawa ng charter flights ng pamahalaan para sa mga Pilipino, lalo na ang mga OFWs at kanilang mga dependents na nagnanais umuwi sa bansa bunsod ng sitwasyon sa Gitnang Silangan,” DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said.
(We will continue to arrange charter flights for Filipinos, especially OFWs and their dependents who wish to come home amid the situation in the Middle East.)
The DMW said the latest batch of 343 OFWs safely made it through land crossings to Riyadh through the collaboration of the DMW, OWWA, and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). — JMA, GMA Integrated News
