Czechia’s Easter is a mix of faith and folk traditions
PRAGUE – In the Czech Republic, Easter celebrations blend religious and folk customs, with public squares becoming Easter markets and Christian churches welcoming residents bringing their items inspired by old traditions.
At the same time, Filipinos living and working in the Central European nation are extending their own Easter festivities to their current host country.
Among them is Shari Along, a 42-year-old from Puerto Princesa who arrived in Prague only two weeks ago to start her new job as a warehouse worker.
The following photos, taken in Prague’s Old Town Square and several churches, show how local Czech beliefs give life to a religious observance—and how Shari and other Filipinos like her celebrated the culmination of Holy Week with a taste of home.
