DMW: 67 Filipinos from Qatar back in PH amid Middle East conflict
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Sunday reported the safe return of 67 overseas Filipinos from Qatar as part of the government’s ongoing repatriation efforts due to the Middle East conflict.
In a Facebook post, the DMW said the repatriated Filipinos – composed of 54 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their 13 dependents – arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Saturday evening, April 4.
They were welcomed by officials of the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and were immediately given post-repatriation assistance, such as food, financial aid, medical support, fare for their return to their provinces, and temporary shelter.
Another 19 OFWs and one dependent from Qatar were also expected to arrive in Manila on Sunday night.
So far, 564 OFWs from Qatar have returned to the Philippines due to the government’s ongoing repatriation efforts amid the ongoing hostilities in the Middle East. — JMA, GMA News
