DMW: 27 overseas Filipinos from Middle East back in PH
Twenty-seven more overseas Filipinos have safely returned to Manila amid the government’s ongoing repatriation efforts due to the Middle East conflict, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.
In a post on its Facebook page on Monday, the DMW said 20 overseas Filipinos from Qatar – 19 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and one dependent – returned to the Philippines on Sunday night, April 5 via a Qatar Airways flight.
They were welcomed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 by personnel of the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and an airport medical team.
The OWWA gave them food and plane tickets for their flights to their respective provinces, and hotel accommodation as temporary shelter.
On Monday morning, April 6, seven OFWs from Lebanon arrived at the NAIA Terminal 3 via an Emirates Airlines flight.
Over the weekend, the DMW also reported the safe return of 67 overseas Filipinos from Qatar, who arrived in Manila on Saturday night.
The agency urged the repatriated OFWs to coordinate with concerned government agencies for additional support for skills training, livelihood assistance, and job placement to help them get back on their feet. — JMA, GMA News
