Pinay killed in missile attack in Israel, DFA says
A Filipina was killed in a missile attack in Haifa, Israel on Sunday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.
"The Department of Foreign Affairs expresses deep sorrow over the death of a Filipina national who was killed in a missile attack on a residence in Haifa, Israel on the evening of 05 April 2026," the DFA said in a statement.
Also killed was the victim's Israeli husband and elderly parents-in-law, the DFA added.
"The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv has informed the family and is providing all necessary assistance, including arrangements for the earliest possible repatriation of her remains despite the current travel situation in the region," it said.
"The Department is also reaching out to support the family during this difficult time," the statement read.
The DFA said the victim's family has requested for privacy to grieve in peace.
"We join the Filipino community in praying for her eternal rest and for strength for her family during this time of profound loss," it said.
In a separate statement, the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Philippines expressed condolences to the family of the victim.
“Israel stands in profound solidarity with the bereaved family and the Filipino community, and shares in the grief over the loss of a Filipino life. We mourn together and honor their memory with dignity,” it said.
On February 28, tensions in the Middle East escalated following the joint military operations launched by the United States and Israel against Iran. The Israeli military said Iran retaliated with missile strikes on Israel.
