DMW provides help for Filipinos in Iran after Trump’s threat
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Wednesday said it is continuing to provide aid to Filipinos in Iran after United States President Donald Trump threatened wiping out “a whole civilization.”
DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the Philippine government is focused on ensuring the safety and welfare of Filipinos through on-site support.
“Sa ngayon, ang isinasagawa natin ay patuloy pa rin 'yung on-site assistance. Halimbawa, may mga distribution ng food packs, grocery goods doon sa mga nangangailangan nito,” he told GMA News’ Unang Balita in an interview.
“Patuloy din ang distribution natin ng financial assistance doon sa mga disrupted ang work,” he added.
In terms of security, Cacdac advised Filipinos in Iran to follow local safety protocols.
“Ang basic rule of thumb naman dito is sumunod sa host country protocols. Ang host governments ang pinaka-merong kaalaman kung paano proteksyunan ang mga residente, mamamayan,” he said.
Aside from Iran, Cacdac said Gulf States have issued advisories including curfew hours in light of the tension in the Middle East.
Ambassadors are on top of the situation monitoring and advising OFWs to adhere to protocols of their respective host countries.
Hotlines are also open.
