Three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were among the 60 people injured in a drone strike at Kuwait International Airport on June 3, according to Kuwaiti state media.

In a report by JP Soriano on "24 Oras Weekend" on Saturday, CCTV footage showed an alleged Iranian drone crashing into the airport, causing structural damage and generating a massive cloud of dust.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said two of the affected OFWs received medical treatment for smoke inhalation, while another underwent treatment for hand and head injuries that required stitches.

“All three have been visited by our Migrant Workers Office and the OWWA. One of them was hospitalized but has been released, and two received outpatient treatments and were also released from the hospital and are recovering,” DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said.

Cacdac said the agency is closely monitoring the situation.

The DMW said arrangements are already being made for the repatriation of the affected OFWs while they recover, including one worker who lives in Kuwait with a young child.

The agency also reminded OFWs in Kuwait to “take all necessary precautions not to step out of their respective residences unless it is absolutely necessary to do so.”

Iran denied responsibility for the attack, claiming that U.S. interceptor missiles that allegedly missed their intended targets caused the incident.

According to Soriano's report, there is currently no active alert level in Kuwait. However, due to limited operations in Kuwaiti airspace, the DMW is advising returning workers to exercise caution.

More than 10 Filipinos have already been repatriated by the Philippine government since tensions escalated between Iran and the U.S.-Israel alliance.

'Retaliatory attack'

Hours before the drone strike in Kuwait, several explosions hit surveillance radar sites on Iran's Goruk and Qeshm islands in what was described as a retaliatory attack by the United States.

Iran had earlier launched four ballistic missiles and several drones targeting vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the report. The projectiles were intercepted by the U.S. Central Command.

Hours later, Iran fired seven ballistic missiles at U.S. military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, Soriano reported.
