17-year-old Filipino male dies in Hong Kong, says PH Consulate

The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong on Sunday confirmed that a 17-year-old Filipino male fell from a bridge last Friday, June 26.

“The Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong has received a police notification on the death of a 17-year old Filipino male who fell from Chau Tsai Bridge in Peng Chau last Friday evening. Official reports indicate that he was brought to Pamela Youde Nethersole Hospital by the Hong Kong Government Flying Service but was, unfortunately, declared dead shortly thereafter," the statement read.

"Nevertheless, the Hong Kong Police see no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death at this point in time."

The Consulate General also said it will provide assistance to the family.

Further, authorities to refrain from spreading false information about the incident.

"The Consulate General wishes to extend its deepest condolences and prayers to the child’s family and requests the public to respect the family’s privacy at this difficult time and to refrain from spreading baseless speculations about the child’s death," the statement further read. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BM, GMA News
