The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) will offer free health services to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families during the Migrant Workers Health Summit on June 30 to July 1, 2026.

The event will be held at the Occupational Health and Safety Center (OSHC) in Quezon City.

OFWs and their families can avail of the following services:
  • Hypertension, diabetes, at nutrition assessment
  • Cancer screening
  • Tuberculosis testing
  • HIV testing
  • Eye and dental services
  • Massage and haircut
  • Assistance from the PRC, PhilHealth, SSS, and partner agencies

The DMW noted that cancer is among the common diseases among OFWs.

“Kung pagbabasehan natin ang pagpunta natin sa iba’t-ibang panig ng mundo at nakakusap natin ang mga migrant workers, nakikita natin yung cancer ay isa sa mga nagiging pangunahing sakit ng ating mga kababayan. Nakita po natin ito sa Hong Kong. Karamihan either cervical cancer o kaya naman po breast cancer,” said DMW Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay in "Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon."

(If we base it on our visits to different parts of the world and our conversations with migrant workers, we can see that cancer is becoming one of the primary illnesses of our compatriots. We saw this in Hong Kong. Most of them have either cervical cancer or breast cancer.)

The department also noted cases of kidney diseases among Filipino workers in the Middle East.

“Sa Middle East naman po kadalasan po yung nakikita natin yung sakit sa kidney,” Tutay added, citing water content in the region. —RF, GMA News
