The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait issued a safety advisory on Saturday urging Filipinos in the country to exercise caution and remain alert amid renewed attacks in the Gulf region involving Iran and the United States.

“Filipinos in Kuwait are advised to continue exercising vigilance and situational awareness. Please follow the advice and instructions of the concerned Kuwaiti authorities,” the embassy said.

The embassy also urged Filipinos to monitor only official news sources to ensure they receive accurate and reliable information on developments in the conflict.

Amid the continuing tensions, it advised Filipinos to:

  • Minimize nonessential travel and outdoor activities, and limit movement to necessary trips.
  • Keep mobile phones and other devices charged to ensure they can communicate at any time.
  • Beware of fake news and refrain from sharing misleading information or speculation.

Filipino nationals affected by the situation may contact the embassy through the following hotlines:

  • +965 9403 9063
  • +965 6040 3858
  • +965 6558 5355

Those requiring immediate police, medical, or other emergency assistance may call 112.

For seven consecutive nights, US forces carried out strikes on Iranian military targets, including logistics hubs, a week after the ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran collapsed.

On Saturday, Iran launched further attacks against Washington’s Gulf allies and Jordan. Kuwait came under repeated attack, with strikes hitting a desalination plant and forcing the suspension of operations at Kuwait International Airport amid missile and drone threats.

Earlier reports said Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) struck a US military support hub at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait and destroyed a radar installation at Ali Al Salem Air Base.

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said one of its oil facilities was hit in what the state news agency described as “repeated Iranian attacks,” causing substantial damage and injuring several people.

“Since there is no international institution to prevent the savagery of the US military, we have no path before us except the Quranic command: ‘Whoever attacks you, attack them in the same manner,’” the IRGC said, warning regional US allies of further strikes.— MCG, GMA News
