6 Pinoys evacuated from Libya now en route to Manila

Six Filipinos who heeded the Philippine Embassy's appeal to leave Libya are now on their way home, according to a report on Unang Balita on Friday, citing Chargé d'Affaires Elmer Cato.

Also going home from Libya are the two Rapid Response Teams from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The Philippine government is enforcing mandatory evacuation of Filipino workers in the Libyan capital of Tripoli and other conflict-torn areas within its 100-kilometer radius due to worsening security situation there.

The DFA placed Libya under Alert Level 4 after a number of Filipinos suddenly found themselves in the middle of fierce fighting in Tripoli.

Under this security warning, all Filipinos there are asked to leave and join the ongoing evacuation being offered by the Philippine government.
