Fil-Am lawyer Arvin Amatorio reelected as mayor of Bergenfield, New Jersey
NEW YORK - Filipino-American Immigration Lawyer Arvin Amatorio has been re-elected as Mayor of Bergenfield, New Jersey.
Amatorio faced no opposition in his second bid for mayor of Bergenfield.
“I am humbled by the amount of support not just for me but for my whole team. I take it as marching orders to continue my vision for Bergenfield and the progress we started four years ago," said Amatorio in a statement sent to GMA Integrated News.
Aside from Amatorio, fellow Filipino-Americans Marc Pascual and Buddy Deauna were also elected as councilmen in the recently conducted polls.
"I had the pleasure of running alongside a fellow Fil-Am, Councilman Marc Pascual, and together with another Fil-Am Councilman, Buddy Deauna, the Filipino community has strong advocates in our town. We encourage our Kababayans for more civic and political participation in our town and to be more engaged,“ added Amatorio.
Born and raised in Baler, Aurora, Amatorio completed his law degree at San Sebastián College and Economics at Colegio de San Juan De Letran. He is also a member of the Lex Talionis Fraternitas.
Amatorio ran under the Democratic Party and is the second Filipino to serve as mayor of Bergenfield in the past two decades.—VAL, GMA Integrated News
