BORN TO BE WILD
“Philippine Croc” and “Journey to Bali”
Starts Wednesday, March 27

Thirty-six Philippine crocodiles locally known as “bukarot” will have a new home. From Davao, they will be transported to Siargao Island where they will be released in Paghongawan marsh. A project of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the National Museum, the crocodile release aims to expand the habitat of the critically endangered bukarot.

This is not the first time that Philippine crocodiles will be introduced to a new habitat. In 2008, Philippine crocs were also released in Dicatian Lake in Isabela. But not everyone is excited about the idea.

Residents in Siargao are afraid of what may happen if these crocs get near their community. Join Doc Ferds as he documents the long journey of the Philippine crocodile on their way to a new home.

Doc Nielsen is back in Indonesia on his first underwater assignment. He travels to the world-renowned island of Bali to join experts from the United Kingdom who have been studying rays. Along the way, Doc Nielsen is surprised to see different species of rays and sharks being sold in local markets. Like the Philippines, Indonesia is a top fishing nation and is also endowed with rich marine life. And as Doc Nielsen pursues his first dive mission, he discovers that the story of the fishing industry in Indonesia—and the threats it faces—has resonance with that of the Philippines.

Join our wild vets in another exciting series starting this Wednesday after Saksi.
