A few days ago, 'Born Impact,' the Sunday edition of 'Born To Be Wild,' received an urgent call. A concerned citizen said that a Philippine macaque bit a child inside a village in Canlubang, Laguna. The macaque they were referring to is the monkey named “Pogi,” whose attempted rescue the Born team featured a few months ago.

Pogi has been living in this residential area for almost a decade. But this year, there were complains that Pogi began to steal food and destroy property. Doc Nielsen Donato’s team attempted to rescue Pogi several months ago to turn him over to a wildlife center. But after two days of pursuit, the team was unsuccessful. The team decided to help the community through an information drive instead.

But the residents’ problem with the wild animal persisted, and some say, even worsened. Pogi attacked and bit a child from the community. Now, Doc Nielsen Donato must complete his unfinished business with the elusive macaque. Will he and the team rescue Pogi this time?

Also in Laguna, Doc Ferds Recio encounters two other Philippine macaques – Kala and Kiko. It was also reported to Born Impact that one of them, Kiko, is becoming aggressive and uncontrollable. There was an incident when Kiko bit his owner.

Aside from Philippine macaques, the two vets chanced upon snakes in the communities, including a 12-foot python.
